Master of Deception – A Quadrille

Master of Deception

The tongue smooth
and the voice syrupy
Luring those with a sweet tooth
Like bees to a honey pot
Once captured the tone would change
Becoming peppered
with stinging hot jabs
meant to harm
like salt in a wound
Beware the master of deception

  1. Sounds dangerous, Christine! I’ve just finished reading a book called Sun Damage by Sabine Durrant about a con man who grooms a younger woman into working with him. Your quadrille is a perfect description of that character. I like the lines:
    ‘The tongue smooth
    and the voice syrupy
Luring those with a sweet tooth’.
