The emotional bonds that tied me to you
Became chains around my ankles
Interdependence
Fused into possession and ownership
Compartmentalized
Brought out to decorate
an ugliness unimaginable in another
A purpose served and relegated to the shadows
Faceless, nameless, useless
That you might shine
Until the cracks exposed narcissism
and others saw behind the mask
becoming weary of the looping spectacle of you
Played over and over
A pathetic selfish man
Self-absorbed, self-indulgent
And as you wallowed in self-pity
I escaped your prison

Oh, I can so relate. Well written

Thanks VJ. I am sorry you can relate. Although this is in my past, it still hangs there like a big fat warning sign. These people prey on the kindness of others and before you know it, you have become invisible. I hope it’s a warning to others. 🙏

Yep. I was married to one for 17 years. You’re welcome

Poor you. You’re well rid of him 👏😂 I feel sorry for anyone in that situation.

Yes, I have seen this happen to a family in my circle of friends… the father doesn’t have anyone left including his children.

Thanks for reading Bjorn. That is exactly the same here. Most narcissists end up like that and have to move on to find a new set of victims, sad to say.

Christine, I commiserate with you. This line shines for me:
becoming weary of the looping spectacle of you
