In response to MLMM's Saturday Mix Today we were prompted to write a Somonka. The somonka is a Japanese form. In fact, it’s basically two tankas written as two love letters to each other (one tanka per love letter). This form usually demands two authors, but it is possible to have a poet take on two personas.
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

beautiful and toching. And it also reminds me of that beautiful quote from Aeschylus — “He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.”
Thank you so much ☺️ I really appreciate it. Thank you also for the beautiful quote. Sometimes life’s challenges are almost too much to bear for some. 💕
Thanks so much Darnell. A lot of my writing is personal and some is buried deep and it helps to pull it out. I also have a lot of empathy for others who might be struggling and I imagine how I might feel in a sad situation. Other than that, I really love words and let my mind run with them wherever they want to go. 🥰
