Religion Road

Religion Road

We are all heading to the same destination
just choosing a different way to get there
The highways and byways of religion
are jammed with the faithful
Frequent stops proselytizing
to the polite yet incurious
All with dogma to sell
But at what price?

    1. Thanks Lisa. I respect all the “highways and byways”, just don’t always understand some of them. ☺️

    1. David, I just found several of your comments in my Spam box 😦 I apologize for the delay in responding. Thanks for your remarks. Yes, indeed, way too high!

  1. Wow Christine!!! This is so Awesome!! Very wise and insightful. Sad so many think there is only One Way!! Seems religion is the biggest cause of division and a lack of unity and peace in the world. Seems weird that religion would be the cause of something other than Peace and Love?? Bellissimo, Dear!

    1. Thank you so much Chuck. You’re right. There are many roads to choose from and no one has the right to dictate which one. ☺️💕

  2. So many ways to reach our destination, and once there some will be amazed at who else is there!!!

  3. Christine, as John sang out – “pretend there is no heaven, and no religion too”… I heard that to mean live a good life while we are here, present in the moment, and quit looking beyond and choosing “groups” by which to segregaKte ourselves from each other. We have no idea what is ahead, if anything — but we certainly know we are here mow, AND that this world and needs love, as do we all — so just let yourself love and be loved – JMHO

  4. I’ve always loved shape poems. Interesting the shape here takes the readers downward….one would think the blessed, the humble religious souls would help to take people upward. 🙂 Perhaps that’s why the last line is what it is.

    1. Thanks Lillian ☺️ The shape was accidental. I noticed it when I centered the text and then just let it be. It did kind of go with text – downward! 🤣 LOL

    1. Exactly! We just have to respect the paths that people take and they should respect mine and yours 🥰🙂💕

      1. There was a line in the movie “Conan the Barbarian” that struck home with me when Conan asks Subotai “What Gods do you pray to?” just sitting around the fire, casual conversation, ahhh if only the world could be more like the movies. 😉

      2. You know I don’t even ask people what religion they practice because, sure enough, they will tell me anyway! Have you ever noticed that? 😦

      3. That’s funny! I really don’t like anyone proselytizing either. Everyone knows the way, just let us get their in peace, thank you! 🙂 Hope you have a nice evening.
