I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

I feel you slipping through my arms
as I am carried away from you
and your tempestuous sea of anger
Love the reality of life’s situation depicted in your poem, Christine! One is always at the mercy of forces or emotions pulling one away from a comfort zone.
Riptides are frightening and to feel vulnerable to such anger is darkly upsetting. A potent metaphor. Dunno if it helps but ’tis said that people drown in riptides when they fight it; swimming across it one eventually gets outside its danger.
Hi Brendan, thanks for reading! ☺️ Yes in fact trying to swim against it will cost you your life. You are supposed to swim it in the direction it is taking you, usually along the coast line, and you will eventually get to a break. The photo shows this.
A lovely, moving poem Christine

A riptide is a great metaphor for someone abusive… once caught it’s hard but so important to get out its grasp
