Toxic

Toxic

We laugh and cry
Smile and frown
Usually together
We slip and slide
Soar and fall
Whatever the weather

Now your thoughts toxic
covering your heart
in a dark shadow
I hold a lantern
looking for some light
or an afterglow

Impressionable images
Clouding your brain
and misguiding
Festering memories
rearing their heads
and dividing

What comes out
is caustic and poisonous
Harming those in your path
Patiently I wait
until it is all spent
While shielding from your wrath

  1. there is someone that holds me very tight and close when i get so toxic and destructive to my own self, we should all have someone like that, i hope i read it right and you are such a person too Christine.

    1. Yes Gina, you read it right. Observing toxicity in another will make you want to contain any that you might harbor. It is very sad to observe and we can see that we are all capable of doing the same 💕
