Peace

Peace

I feel myself recoiling
and closing down
Shutting out the dissonance
No fight left inside me
One more spiteful remark
will make no difference

Your comfortable chaos
has slowly eaten away
at my core
Calculated and manipulative
Strategically planned
to wound in your war

Peace will only come
in my final retreat
Conceding to the last
Words have left me
As I withdraw from the conflict
and leave you in my past

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

    1. Thank you Avia. I’m happy it showed through. A weird thing to say I suppose, but that’s what was going for 🙂💕

  1. Very sad Christine. Even sadder if you are writing your truth. But you can’t let someone take you from yourself. Protect that private center — always, and at all costs!

    1. Thanks Frank. Yes some people are very comfortable living like that – not me though!
