More Than a Kiss – Poem of the Month – October 2020

More Than a Kiss

You held my hand
as we walked
Hummingbirds hovered
by bougainvillea
tumbling over
whitewashed walls
Sun tingling
tanned skin
As we stopped to kiss
a lightheadedness
from shared wine
released inhibitions
You pulled me closer to you
Biting my lip
knowing I wanted more
Loving,
clawing, scratching
at the air
in silent screams
Desires sated
as light rain
showered
surprised
entwined bodies
Cooling
heated passions
Leaving our footprints
on parched sidewalks
The day turned sultry
as we resumed
our walk in silence
Introspective
Both knowing
more of what
was still to come

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

    1. No, not at all. They had connected and they both knew there was “more of what was still to come” ☺️💕

  1. The passion and togetherness that comes full circle in the end… That’s depicted brilliantly, as well beautifully. No one knows what life shall become, but facing it together is all the difference in times of bliss or hardship. Another beautiful poem, Christine. I really enjoyed reading this one.

  2. I like this Christine – “both knowing more of what was still to come” Altogether delicious… Evoking the best of such passion and its promise.. so well. Makes oneself realise how lucky you’ve been to know what you are talking about… Thanks for prompting some real good memories tonight!

  3. I so love this one Christine. I love how the construct builds and leaves room for more and more.
At the start such an evocative scene
    “Hummingbirds hovered
    by bougainvillea
    tumbling over
    whitewashed walls”

Then memories of a distant past flooded in.
    “Desires sated
    as light rain
    showered
    surprised
    entwined bodies”

Thanks for joining in and making my morning tingle ❤
