Into the Darkness

Into the Darkness

An ever-consuming sadness
envelops your body in
a diaphanous veil
A storm brewing in your mind
Words of reason hide in the penumbra
Marinating in suppressed anger
that dwells there
Instinctively I know what is happening
I recognize the warning signs
triggering your frustrations
What the eyes don’t see
Intuition already knows
Watching a rerun of the movie
I have seen so many times
I sense the imminent deterioration
of what was once a beautiful mind
The beginning of the end

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

    1. Thanks so much. I had started it on Thursday and didn’t get around to finishing it until today, with the help of Punam’s prompt too! ☺️

      1. Thank you dear Punam. I do so hope it doesn’t happen to me. When you see it first hand it is so sad, heartbreaking. 😢

    1. Wow Ivor. I have not seen that artist before (well actually I couldn’t see her anyway!) It was great! I loved the song. Thanks for the share. My poem was about dementia and how sad it is to watch someone living with it. 😢
