Extinction

Extinction

Here I feel safe
in the tranquil coolness
of the rocks
Unseen
by the outside world
A place where I can
heal, away from the
madness that is you

Ordering me, bullying,
complaining until
my mouth works
silently
Logic suppressed
while you rant,
threaten
and intimidate

When did I become
the scared rabbit
fleeing from the predator
who wants to annihilate?
Who will not be happy
until my extinction
is complete

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. Powerfully described. I remember wanting to say to my husband, as I was leaving, “you’ve spent 3 years doing everything you could to scare me into leaving, and today’s the day”. But I was still too scared to speak.
