Emotional Bonds
Emotional bonds can change over time and in some cases can become to feel like chains around ankles, as if a prisoner in a relationship. Here the writer describes poetically a situation where love turned into ownership with one partner voiding the other relegating them into the shadows.
Lost Souls
Lost at Sea
Only the sea
could match the anger
Only wind could
howl with more clangor
Here no one listens
and there’s no one to call

Song Lyric Sunday
Holding Back The Years by British Band Simply Red. To me it is a somewhat haunting song about the writer’s upbringing in a broken home and well, yes, that resonated with me.
The use of the Latin Pater (Father) and Mater (Mother) in the lyrics helps the reader/listener pay attention to the story behind the song.

There aren’t bad choices
Only right ones at the time
So follow your heart
The Ghosts Of My Past
The Ghosts of my Past
Words of love spoken by a bitter tongue
Fall like darts on tender skin with their piercing poison
Protests fall on deaf ears
As engagement turns up the volume
Of anger
