One Liner Wednesday

Good Morning! It's hump day again and time for Linda G. Hill's
One Liner Wednesday

Linda's reference to her appliance made me smile and reminded me
that no matter how old we get, life can be silly and fun.

I came across this graphic and thought it fits today's challenge.

Have a great day!

Snowbird

Snowbird

As the sky turns
From blue to creamy yellow
When the sun sinks lower
And we begin to feel mellow

Feeling the slight tingle
of freshly sun-kissed skin
And freckles on a nose
That knows not how to begin

Your sapient thoughts confirm
This is where you need to be
Brush off the cobwebs
In search of liberty

For all the winter clothes
Are but just an armor
That protect us from the cold
And keep us warmer

Connect with your inner self
And follow your dreams
Stay on target
Its easier than it seems

Shed the unnecessary weight
Discard those scratchy threads
And free yourself
From winter’s dread

Be venturesome and curious
Stay full of wonder
Spread your wings
Let no one steal your thunder

Fly south young bird
As your parents have sung
Follow the sun and
stay forever young

Weeping Willow

Weeping Willow

The Weeping Willow’s tears
Poured into the rippling water
Until the swollen river crested

So full with her grief
Swallowing deeply, ingesting her pain
Until she no longer protested

She came often to share her thoughts
This time she brought her anguish
It was as if her heart infested

The Willow absorbed her cries
The deep sobs of the wounded
It was there for whatever she requested

The river flowed over her feet
Washing away her heartache
Encouraging her to stay until she was rested

As the Willow tree and river soothed her
The sun shone its light on her sadness
Until her fresh thoughts were manifested

Fantasy

Fantasy

Last night I had a dream
You were lying next to me
In a dark room
Somewhere near the sea
I could hear crickets
In the balmy stillness
Moonbeams streaking
Light through the darkness

A sensation of calmness
As I let you stroke my cheek
Your arms went around me
and I began to feel weak
You grasped my hands
pulling them behind me
Expertly binding them
and I pretended to get free

Your actions were exciting
Almost kinky in a way
Your body pushing against me
as I submissively lay
I didn’t know who you were
I perhaps did not care
Was this even a dream
Or a fantasy nightmare

Song Lyric Sunday – American Boy

This week the theme is “Boys” for Helen Vahdati’s Song Lyric Sunday

Lots to choose from and I feel that we are going to see a lot of variety in today’s offerings.

This one by Estelle and featuring Kanye West (2008) was one of my favorites in recent years.  It’s hip hop but has great musical beat.  I am not a Kanye fan particularly but I do like Estelle.  She is a London born musician, now residing in New York, who was first signed by John Legend for his own music label. You can check her out on Wikipedia.

Hope you enjoy it and have a great Sunday.

American Boy

Lyrics

[Kanye West:]
Just another one champion sound
Yeah, Estelle, we ’bout to get down, get down.
Who the hottest in the world right now.
Just touched down in London town.
Bet they give me a pound.
Tell them put the money in my hand right now.
Yes
Tell the promoter we need more seats,
We just sold out all the floor seats

[Estelle:]
Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day.
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You’ll be my American boy.

He said “Hey, Sister.
It’s really, really nice to meet you.”
I just met this 5 foot 7 guy who’s just my type.
I like the way he’s speaking, his confidence is peaking.
Don’t like his baggy jeans but I’mma like what’s underneath them.
And no I ain’t been to MIA
I heard that Cali never rains and New York’s heart awaits.
First let’s see the west end.
I’ll show you to my brethren.
I’m liking this American boy, American boy

Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You’ll be my American boy, American boy

Can we get away this weekend?
Take me to Broadway.
Let’s go shopping, baby, then we’ll go to a café.
Let’s go on the subway.
Take me to your hood.
I never been to Brooklyn and I’d like to see what’s good.
Dress in all your fancy clothes.
Sneakers looking fresh to death, I’m loving those Shell Toes.
Walking that walk.
Talk that slick talk.
I’m liking this American boy, American boy.

Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You’ll be my American boy

Tell ’em wagwan blud

[Kanye West:]
Who killing ’em in the UK.
Everybody gonna say, “You, K.”
Reluctantly ’cause most of this press don’t fuck with me.
Estelle once said to me, “Cool down, down, don’t act a fool now, now.”
I always act a fool oww oww.
Ain’t nothing new now now.
He crazy, I know what ya thinking.
Ribena I know what you’re drinking.
Rap singer. Chain blinger.
Holla at the next chick soon as you’re blinking.
What’s your persona.
About this Americana rhymer.
Am I shallow ’cause all my clothes designer.
Dressed smart like a London Bloke.
Before he speak his suit bespoke.
And you thought he was cute before.
Look at this peacoat, tell me he’s broke.
And I know you ain’t into all that.
I heard your lyrics I feel your spirit.
But I still talk that CASH.
‘Cause a lot wags wanna hear it.
And I’m feeling like Mike at his Baddest.
Like The Pips at they Gladys.
And I know they love it.
So to hell with all that rubbish

[Estelle:]
Would you be my love, my love?
Could you be mine?
Would you be my love, my love?
Could you be mine?
Could you be my love, my love?
Would you be my American boy, American boy?

Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day
Take me to Chicago, San Francisco Bay.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You’ll be my American boy, American boy
You’ll be my American boy.
Be my American boy!
American boy.

[Estelle:]
La la lala la lalala
La la lala la lalala

The Dog and the Butterfly

The Dog and the Butterfly

Oh how high he jumped
Into the sky
Excited and free
He felt like he could fly
Wherever you go
I will follow you, he said with a sigh
She fluttered momentarily
The dog and the butterfly

Up and over, in and out
Making him dizzy of his eyes
She teased him relentlessly
He wasn’t such a tough guy
A symbiotic relationship
He did run and was spry
She could hover out of reach
The dog and the butterfly

They would chase each other
Her love he did vie
She was lost without him
And he knew why
Happy together
They would never say goodbye
Opposites attract
The dog and the butterfly

Eyes Wide Open – Week #22

Good Saturday Morning!

I was out of town this week so my iPhone photos are of New York. Visiting  the Big Apple for a few days vacation, enjoying the chilly weather and seeing the city get ready for the holidays.  It did not disappoint!

I hope you enjoy them.  Have a great day!

Gnarly

Gnarly

Like a belligerent badger

Or a dog with a bone

Angry at the world

You build your wall of stone

Standing at the back door

When gifts were handed out

Temper was the one you received

Learning to scream and shout

Driving people away

who just want to be kind

They rarely stay long

In fear of your mind

It is sad to know

you’ll end up a lonely old man

No one will want you

They run away as fast as they can

Embarrassment

Embarrassment

At that one fatuous moment
There was an eruption
Of your putrescent anger
Spewing the carnage
An obvious disruption

No one saw it coming
Silence was broken
By the obnoxious sound
Even the dead
It would have woken

A hush fell over the room
As mouths gaped wide
You could see minds turning
In unison wondering
Where on earth could one hide

You in your way embarrassed
The target of your outburst
Reduced to a heap
Of hurt on the floor
Crying like a cloudburst

At times such as this
When you fall from grace
Are you escorted from the room
Without causing more harm
Or simply put in your place

A gentleman would not behave
In a manner of dereliction
Should someone call you
On your unacceptable actions
Be prepared for your eviction

In The Long Run

In the Long Run

Like kissing a train
Going down the tracks
Or catching a falling knife
So is the world with you
Danger wherever I look
Sometimes in fear for my life

Jump on the bandwagon
Or continue to boredom
What is life if not lived?
Dull and predictable
Lonely and missing
Better to be alive than dead

Your energy inspiring
Exciting and contagious
A miracle in the making
Getting into character
Each day is live theater
A slice of life for the taking

Adrenalin junkie
I’m not sure that I am
Just a need to be at your side
No matter the weather
We are better together
I’m along for the ride

Flying up to the high
Hanging on to your coat tails
And turning on a dime
Sharing your crazy world
Better or worse
Leaving would be a crime
