Eyes Wide Open – Week 8

Good Morning!  I hope you enjoy this week’s photos taken on my iPhone.

Enjoy your Saturday!

White Heron

An accommodating White Heron strolling through someone’s yard

Royal Poinciana

Beautiful Royal Poinciana blossoms

Dog Topiary

I’ve run past this huge dog topiary hundreds of times and never noticed it before.  It’s magnificent!

Birds of Paradise

A flock of Birds of Paradise

Free Library

A thoughtful free library in the park. (See I really do use an iPhone!)

Siren – Poem of the Month – September 2018

Siren

Observing the arcing whales
from beneath the pretty sails
of this schooner
A desired state
is to be with you
in this love drunken stupor

To be enjoyed and saved
our thoughts are enslaved
locked safely away
Always living in memory
to be revisited often
forgetting not these happy days

I hypnotize you shamefully
you come with me willingly
we are united as one
Mesmerizing and sensuous
making outrageous promises
what a web I have spun

Behaving sinfully
sailing blissfully
towards the horizon
I have you under my spell
I am your sea nymph
your nautical siren

Searching

Searching

Truncated from my other half
Robbed of my powers
I search the world
For a lifetime
Looking for my twin
Calling from the highest towers

He is out there
I hear his voice calling
Driven to find
The missing piece
I push forward
No fear of falling

Every part of my being
Takes me to a milestone
Where you might be
If there is a soul mate
for everyone
Why do I wander alone?

Gone Fishing!

Well I’m not really going fishing but I will be away for a couple of weeks on vacation. I’m sure no one will miss my posts but just in case, I have scheduled a few poems and photos along with the Daily Haiku 😊

I only share this with you because I do enjoy all your posts and “like” and comment on them frequently.  As I’ll be out of action, meaning I will not be taking my laptop or iPad with me, there will be no opportunity to respond to any of your great posts or answer anything you may send my way.

Thank you all for the wonderful support to my still fledgling blog.  I will be sure to catch up on everything as soon as I get back 👍

Best wishes,

Christine

Eyes Wide Open – Week 7

Good Morning!

I am really enjoying my own weekly challenges.  Each day I am out running I make sure that I capture anything that nature presents or is pleasing to my eyes.  I’m rarely disappointed.

This is what I discovered this week taken with an iPhone.  Have a great Saturday and Keep Your Eyes  Wide Open!

Buddhist Prayer

Thai lady outside her restaurant offering food to Buddha with prayer.  A daily occurrence.

Alligator Sign

I wasn’t going to, but thanks for the reminder!

“Unconditional Surrender” – 25 foot statue on our Bayfront

Million dollar bill

Someone left a million dollars on a bench! I thought it was a dollar bill when I first sat down.  Fascinated, I turned it over and learned that I could be “saved”.  I doubt that, so I left it for the next person to find.

Canopy Trail

Pretty canopy trail offering welcome shade on a steamy day

Enjoy what you see!

Gone

Gone

No more black and white
Just shadows of grey
Direction is no longer clear
Since you went away

Numerous times
I question why
You left so suddenly
But never a reply

A ghost like presence
Where you once were
Never again
To darken my door

Your essence everywhere
Woven into my life
Carrying it in my body
Twisting against the knife

Your voice lingering
In the empty room
Not answering my words
Nothing left to exhume

Bravado my new guise
Not wishing to show anguish
Reflexive responses
In my misery I languish

A sense of foreboding
You will never return
Life with you
I will have to unlearn

Me

Me

I am wild
and boisterous
Fearless and fierce
I am me

I am adventurous
and curious
Gutsy and brave
I am me

I tow the line
and follow instructions
Respectful and dutiful
I am me

I am kind
and considerate
Thoughtful and benevolent
I am me

I care
and I love
Gentle and sweet
I am me

I write
and I create
Questioning and truthful
I am me

I argue
and fight
Cry and scream
I am me

I cause pain
and offend
Angry and indignant
I am human

Inspiration

Inspiration

Just living in your space
Changes the way
I see this world
My glasses are rosy
I am in a better place

When we connect
Regardless of the level
I am on the train
Riding by your side
I see a future perfect

I am inspired
To achieve my goals
Negativity I decline
I am a renegade
Optimism is required

Life in monochrome
Was dull and empty
My elders ruled my realm
You brought me Technicolor
I find myself now at home
