Seeds

Seeds

In the forest
of petrified trees
where there is not
even a leaflet
to be found
There, lives hope

Under the earth
the seeds
of sentiment
struggle to germinate
So they may
walk life’s tightrope

Kiss The Dust – A Quadrille

Kiss The Dust – A Quadrille

The steady rain kisses my cheeks
Mixing with my tears
I am waiting for you to come
and quell my deepest fears
Why are you so late my love?
I hope it is not true
You have found someone else
Maybe I always knew

dVerse Poets Pub is hosted tonight by De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo)

Shadow of the Sword

Shadow of the Sword

Scared of the shadows
You take my hand
and lead me gently
from the darkness
Still trembling with fear
I hold onto you
Resisting the slight pull
from the invisible harness

For reasons unknown
I trust you with my life
No flare sent up
Perhaps this is infatuation
A desire for something
I have never had
Is it your strength of force?
Or is it an adulteration?

Are you rescuing me
from the ghosts of my past?
Protecting me from evil
So my life will live with yours
How I wish to forget
what I will leave behind
I fear nothing will be resolved
Locked behind dungeon doors

The Baths at Virgin Gorda, BVI

The Baths at Virgin Gorda, BVI

She had risen early, taking advantage of her last day on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.  She wanted to go to the Baths before it got crowded with tourists and enjoy the relaxing pools between the enormous rocks.  There was a certain energy in the quiet sanctuary of the water and a calming atmosphere.

The sun was barely above the horizon when she removed her clothes. Leaving them on the rocks she waded into the crystal-clear pools.  The water was refreshing and she dipped below the surface feeling the sensual shock as it consumed her body.  With eyes closed she let herself drift underwater for a few moments holding her breath.  As she attempted to surface, she realized she was wedged between two boulders and could not raise her head above the water to breathe.  She was trapped and no one was there to save her.

Release

Finally, I find the strength
To pick up the baggage
I have kept for so long
It is now tied up
neatly in a bundle
Hanging on to it was wrong

Purging myself of your memory
Into the garbage it goes
without another thought
Cleansing to my soul
and brushing away cobwebs
What we had came to naught

In this final release
I forgive you
for all the pain you inflicted
I move on to my future
wishing you well
I know now I was addicted

A Piece of Work

A Piece of Work

A moment on the tongue
Is a lifetime in the mind
This she must remember
In order to be kind

A provocateur
Looking for distraction
Poking the hornet’s nest
Hoping for a reaction

Internally passionate
And outwardly belligerent
Those who manage to get close
Only experience indifference

Manufactured words
and constructed criticisms
Her weapons of choice
In her distorted idealisms

An emotional jig-saw
trying to piece herself together
If revelation comes
It will change like the weather

Spirit Animal

Spirit Animal

I am the fox, her spirit animal
An enchanting creature
With plenty of mystique
I am faithful and loyal
And I will teach her

To not follow the pack
Be true to herself first
Be strong and mettlesome
Make wise decisions
And she will be well versed

To be brave and fearless
Always thinking outside the box
Because she is special and
Sweet, one of a kind
She too is a beautiful fox

One Liner Wednesday – In Sync

Good morning! Time for Linda G. Hill’s One Liner Wednesday and I have chosen a funny Gary Larson cartoon for you to enjoy. It fits Linda’s prompt, “In sync” perfectly.

Hope you have a great Wednesday!

Invisible

Invisible

How do i erase you
from my mind?
How do I delete you
from my memory?
How do I forget the love
we shared?
After the feelings I bared

You have rejected me
and scorned me
I am banished from your life
I have become invisible
and out of sight
The sting is as bad as the bite

You look right through me
as if I did not exist
You are blind to my presence
Obscured from your view
I am now insignificant
as I become your relinquishment

Escalation

Escalation

The low hum of the air conditioner
was the only sound to be heard
He reclined on the bed, thoughts swirling
but the lines were blurred

Life had been full of possibilities
until that fateful night
He had loved her deeply
but she had been full of spite

His history needing an overwrite
He had run to clear his head
Events had escalated quickly
He feared he had left her dead

Bringing her a gift of flowers
She had thrown them in his face
Accusing him of infidelity
Her words out of place

He would never do such a thing
She had been ill advised
She screamed and ranted
And continued to chastise

His head exploding
from her volcanic eruption
He had pushed her away
Needing an abruption

Awkwardly she fell to the floor
In his fear, he had ran from there
Now In the stillness, a voice on a megaphone
“Come out with your hands in the air”
