One Liner Wednesday

Good morning!

Another week has flown by and it’s time for Linda G Hill’s One Liner Wednesday. This old cartoon is definitely good for a laugh!

Just a reminder that Wednesday will always be Hump Day. Here is that funny Geico Insurance ad featuring the camel. I laugh every time I see it!

Have a great Wednesday!

Darkest Before The Dawn

Darkest Before The Dawn

A collection of challenges
Strewn on my pathway
Testing and trying
my resilience
Another dawn, another day

Just when my heart
Could take no more darkness
A sliver of light peeks
through the crack
and lifts me from the starkness

The cloud’s silver lining
reassuring in the moment of fear
Proof that life is ever changing
Decay and devastation
Do not always cohere

Change – Quadrille

Change

A change is as good as a rest
and the Leopard can’t change his spots
A change in the weather
is like changing your socks

You can change your tune
and change your mind
Now isn’t that strange
The only thing inevitable
is change

The Library

I looked up from the book
and rubbed my eyes
Engrossed in the mystery
it had taken me far away
to a place I could visualize

I imagined a world
so different from here
Where pigs could fly
and horses could sing
and humans had no fear

The sea was pink
and the sky was green
Trees were upside down
Flowers were all blue
and there was no need to clean

People spoke in gobbledygook
and they all had wings
Flying everywhere
and nowhere, playing
instruments with strings

A loud noise made me jump
It gave me quite a scare
My book had slipped to the floor
Then I suddenly realized
I had fallen asleep in the chair

Fight to the Death

Fight to the Death

You were brave and strong
Valiant and proud
I loved you deeply
To you I was avowed
You fought for my heart
and lost your life
You gave everything
To take me as your wife

My life without purpose
Now you have departed
I wander aimlessly
Living broken hearted
I leave this rose
to honor your emotion
The price you paid
The ultimate devotion

Song Lyric Sunday – Laughing

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday theme is Laugh/Laughter/Laughing, again hosted by Jim Adams. I found this a tough one. There are plenty of songs out there with Laugh in the title, but none of them were speaking to me. I did however find this one sung by Aretha Franklin which I liked. It’s called “Laughing on the Outside, Crying on the Inside”. It’s an old song and several singers have covered it. I hope you enjoy it too.

Lyrics
Laughing on the Outride, Crying on the Inside

The crowd sees me out dancing
Carefree and romancing
Happy with my someone new
I'm laughing on the outside
Crying on the inside
Cause I'm still in love with you
They see me night and daytime
Having such a gay time
They don't know what I go through
I'm laughing on the outside
Crying on the inside
Cause I'm still in love with you
No one knows it's just a pose
Pretending I'm glad we're apart
And when I cry, my eyes are dry
The tears are in my heart
My darling, can't we make up?
Ever since our breakup
Make believe is all I do
I'm laughing on the outside
Crying on the inside
Cause I'm still in love
I am still in love with you

Go with the Flow

Go with the Flow

Love flows like the river
Meandering slowly
and raging rapidly
Over life’s obstacles
Along the way attracting
insignificant annoyances
and heated arguments
Latching on like barnacles

In its wild torrent
it will break your strength
and splinter hope
Leaving memories that sting
When it is calm and still
At its deepest point
That is where the love is strong
and this is where to cling

Unimportant disagreements
Never forgotten in the wake of pain
No longer instrumental
or helpful to your endeavor
Inconsequential debates
and endless contention
Meaningless now
Because love is forever

Eyes Wide Open – Week # 27

Another Saturday morning rolls around and time for me to share some more iPhone photos as I go about my daily business of connecting with the world around me. These are all just random shots of things that catch my eye. I find them interesting but they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder! See what you think.

Have a great Saturday!

PS. My schedule will be changing in the coming weeks so I will be putting the Eyes Wide Open section of my blog on a temporary hold until I have more time to take these fun photos to share. I will still be writing and participating in the fun things!

Well hello there little bird….I can see you

Some cool looking clouds

These jellyfish are at our local Aquarium and Marine Research Center

My dog Grace found the tortoise I frequently see on my walk along the nature trail

This was a really nice place to sit and catch your breath after a run

See, Climate Change is real. This sign was on the waterfront next to the above bench

Mementos

Mementos

They are saved in a box
Hidden from view
They come out now and again
when I am feeling blue
Your letters from long ago
and photographs of old
each has a memory
and a story to be told

Promise of something
Hopes for everything
Goals to accomplish
Maybe a wedding ring
But our love was too weak
and you began to stray
Influenced by an enmity
I knew you wouldn’t stay

Jealousy and loathing
Slowly everything was destroyed
Disharmony and resentment
The end we could no longer avoid
The letters and photos
Just mementos of a time gone by
Forgotten and ignored
They no longer gratify

Waiting For You

Waiting For You

Where feathers flutter to the earth
and the bamboo reaches the sky
On the morning grass covered in dew

Where the hedgerows are lined
with wild flowers intense with color
That’s where I will wait for you

Where the sun sets on the horizon
and the rain falls into the stream
In the forest where moonlight peeks through

Where the sunlight falls on a grassy meadow
Or glints in-between the trees
That’s where I will wait for you

When the oceans eventually run dry
And the sun falls from the sky
When the mountains crumble from view

When the earth finally comes to an end
And there is nothing left to see
That’s where I will wait for you
