Eyes Wide Open – Week 5

Good Morning!

This is what I came across this week while out and about in nature. As always all photos are taken with an iPhone.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Palm Trees with Earrings

Purple Blue Clematis

Pretty Lilcac-Blue Clematis

Face in the tree

I see a face in this dead Palm tree

Ibis flight

A group of Ibis on the trail

Mango Tree

An insurance company would call this an “attractive nuisance”.  I could easily have stolen these delicious looking mangoes

Keep your eyes open, you never know what you will see!

Impromptu Haiku

An effervescent

Ingredient of piffle

Abominable!

The Word Prompt Gods were just not playing fair today.  I thought and thought but was not inspired by any of the four presented.

This is the best I can come up with today in the form of an Im-prompt-u Haiku!  I’m sure you will all do better than this. Have a great day!

You are balancing
On the edge once more
Teetering on the brink
Where will it take you this time
I wonder as my heart again
Drops to the floor

On the verge of explosion
Paralyzed with fear
Will I pull you back
Or let you go
Even if to my detriment
Or do I brave a new frontier

Unpredictability is expected
There is always a blind side
Never seeing it coming
My heart gets attacked
Sometimes I wish for it
And that I would have died

Love going through a meat grinder
Pounded into shreds
What comes out is a mockery
It’s happening again
A relationship in tatters
Lives left in threads

Our nucleus unstable
The contact between us worn thin
Our love’s constellation
Imploding in space
Shattering into fragments
This life in a tailspin

Heart

If the heart is a muscle
How can it break?
In a thousand pieces
A constant ache

Shattered like glass
Trodden into the ground
Slashing life’s tires
Irreparable and profound

Ripped apart over and again
Miraculously repairing
Growing larger than before
Open to more exploring

Never forever broken
A heart always repairs
Life’s great mystery
Meant to be shared

One Liner Wednesday – For all the Dougs out there

In response to Linda Hill’s One Liner Wednesday

This is a visual rather than a one-liner but hopefully it will  bring a smile to your hump day.

An old Gary Larson cartoon that always makes me laugh!

We are so compatible

You might disappear

Senses of Summer

The scent of gardenias
Floating on late afternoon air
Sweetly fragrant and tender
Nothing can compare

Spanish Moss hanging in dreadlocks
On the old Rastafarian Oak
Summer warmed earth
No need for a hooded cloak

Monarchs fluttering here and there
Squirrels flying from tree to tree
Water trickling over rocks
Babbling stream to the sea

Brightness of tropical flowers
Flourishing in their colorful glory
Dramatic blossoms from lush foliage
For our pleasure contributory

Pelicans gliding above the water
Ready to dive when the moment is right
Something spied for their supper
No time to consider the fish’s plight

Peaceful moments spent on the dock
Boats parading along the water
Music floating across the air
A young couple with daughter

Sun’s rays kissing the skin
Freckling the nose
Walking slowly along the beach
Sand between the toes

Sandpipers scurrying
Avoiding the tide
Children playing
In sand liquefied

Random driftwood scattered
A horseshoe crab’s empty shell
Sandcastles left in ruins
A discarded bathing suit with a story to tell

Treasured moments to keep
In memories deep in time
Almost worth the winter freeze
To sip the last of the summer wine

Fearless

A fearless warrior
Alone in her plight
Fighting for their existence
No one to help her and the child
Determined to go the distance

She walked through fire
but was not burnt by it
She circled her wagons
With her never ending fury
She slayed the dragons

She would fight tigers
For she was a mother
Crossing her you cannot afford
For the life of her daughter
She would fall on her sword

Saddened

My heart is heavy again today

It feels like pain will never go away

I was doing so well

Never hearing the warning bell

My world suddenly on its end

I look to you but you will not bend

Your actions provoke

Even when nothing is spoke

Goading for a reaction

I’m innocent, rejecting the accusation

This treatment I cannot abide

I just want to run away and hide

I am walking aimlessly in a minefield

Where your weapons you do wield

There is no middle ground

It’s as if we have drowned

I go into survival mode

My livelihood is about to unfold

I must walk away from you

If it is the last thing I ever do

Song Lyric Sunday – Tequila Sunrise – The Eagles

I was happy to learn that this week’s prompt was DRINK!

The first thing I thought of was Tequila Sunrise by one of my favorite bands, The Eagles.

In response to Helen Vahdati’s Song Lyric Sunday – Drink

Tequila Sunrise

It’s another tequila sunrise
Starin’ slowly ‘cross the sky said goodbye
He was just a hired hand
Workin’ on the dreams he planned to try
The days go by

Ev’ry night when the sun goes down
Just another lonely boy in town
And she’s out runnin’ ’round

She wasn’t just another woman
And I couldn’t keep from comin’ on
It’s been so long
Oh and it’s a hollow feelin’ when
It comes down to dealin’ friends
It never ends

Take another shot of courage
Wonder why the right words never come
You just get numb
It’s another tequila sunrise

This old world
Still looks the same,
Another frame, mmm
